Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School, a community Jewish Day School in Northridge, CA (Los Angeles), seeks an individual to direct and coordinate the financial activities of the school, including accounting, strategic planning and budget preparation/control in collaboration with administration. Our mission is to serve the Jewish community by providing children a rich dual-curricular education that encourages independent and critical thinking, lifelong learning, self-awareness, and compassion. In partnership with our families, we inspire our students to become active, dedicated, ethical, and informed citizens and leaders who are committed to Israel and the vitality of the Jewish people. Reporting to the Head of School, the individual develops and prepares financial reports (i.e., quarterly results, cash flow statements, budget variance analyses) to drive the decision making of board members, administration, and department heads. The candidate will oversee student billing services and other revenue generated from activity and sports fees, contributions, fundraising, capital campaigns, grants, etc., and will ensure a timely processing of billings and collections. With responsibility for Human Resources, the candidate will oversee employee compensation, deductions, and benefits programs and will negotiate contracts with third party providers. With responsibility for school operations, the candidate will direct and oversee physical plant management, capital projects, insurance and related financial reporting, serving in an advisory role with Board members and administration.

Bachelor?s degree in business or accounting. A minimum of five years progressive financial and administrative leadership experience in a non-profit organization, ideally an independent school. Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge a big plus. Must have a strong knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and human resources. Must be self-motivated and respect confidentiality, and exhibit discretion and personal integrity. Must demonstrate ability to manage, mentor, and lead business office staff.
